As a Senior Developer role you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Regulator’s Digital ID technology solution.

This role plays a critical role in driving the technical excellence of the development process, ensuring the system’s functionality, performance and security meet high standards. You will focus on the design and implementation of changes to existing software components, ensuring the ongoing integrity, performance, and availability of the system, by collaborating with cross-functional teams.

 About the Client

The client’s Digital ID System is a key component of Australia’s broader digital transformation and is designed to strengthen the growing digital economy in two main ways:

1.   It enables secure, convenient, voluntary, and inclusive methods of verifying identity in online transactions across both public and private sectors, while protecting the privacy and security of personal information.

2.   It helps build trust in digital identity services, streamlines access to online services, and supports continued growth of the digital sector.

The Digital ID System regulator is responsible for:

• accrediting providers of digital identity services
• approving participation in the Australian Government Digital ID System
• conducting compliance monitoring and enforcement activities relating to non-privacy aspects of the system

Contract Details

Estimated start date: Wednesday, 01 July 2026

Initial contract duration: 12 months

Number of extensions: 2

Experience level:  Senior – EL1 equivalent

Location of work: QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA, TAS

Working arrangements:  Hybrid. The client has a requirement to attend the office for 40% of your time each week.

Security clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen able to obtain Baseline

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Work closely with product owners, business analysts and other team members to understand current and emerging requirements to design, test and evaluate changes to the solutions.
• Participate in planning, defining, and prioritising upcoming work while ensuring technical standards and processes are followed during development and delivery.
• Apply problem solving and programming knowledge to write testable and maintainable code.
• Conduct analysis and work with others to provide technical feedback and possible solutions to issues.
• Contribute to and maintain internal knowledge bases, coding standards, quality control processes, and best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions across the branch.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and tooling with a focus on using process automation for deployment and release.
• Monitor production system performance and trends to identify areas for improvement – including but not limited to; fixing bugs and resolving issues, maintaining code, applying security patches and updates.
• Implement and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines, ensuring smooth, reliable and traceable deployment of software updates.

 Technical skills

Experience building applications with .NET and React, using JavaScript/TypeScript for front-end development and C# for back-end services. Familiarity with Dynamics 365 integrations is a plus. We value clean code, API development, and collaboration in Agile teams using Azure DevOps for delivery and version control.

• Programming/software development: Level 5 (SFIA) Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development. Plans and drives software construction activities. Adopts and adapts appropriate software development methods, tools and techniques. Measures and monitors applications of project/team standards for software construction, including software security.
