Federal Government Client with offices in Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne is seeking EL1 & EL2 Reporting & Risk Managers.
Risk Management professionals forecast, identify, assess, and prioritise risks, allowing a coordinated and economical application of resources to minimise, monitor and control the probability or impact of the identified risks. They may undertake a specialist advisory role on risk management practices or may undertake risk management processes for their business area.
The EL1 Reporting and Risk Manager may lead a multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist advice, or undertake, best practice risk management in alignment with agency risk management policies and frameworks. A major aspect of the role is providing specialist risk advice on such matters as assessment, control effectiveness, risk appetite and tolerance.
The EL1 Reporting and Risk Manager exercises a considerable degree of independence and undertakes a leadership role, with work being performed under the broad direction of senior management. Decision-making is substantially dependent on their high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications.
The EL1 Reporting and Risk Manager drives innovation, changes in workplace practices and organises work in the context of competing priorities and strategic direction. Assistant Directors are responsible for creating a productive and healthy workplace culture, mentoring staff and ensuring effective and accurate communication to stakeholders
The EL2 Reporting and Risk Manager drives the identification and reporting of agency risks in collaboration with key areas across the agency. They provide risk expertise and support on, or may oversee, operational risk analysis, assessment, management and contingency practices. A major aspect of the EL2 Reporting and Risk Manager role is supporting and providing strategic risk reporting and advice on assessment, control effectiveness, risk appetite and tolerance.
The EL2 Reporting and Risk Manager operates with a high level of autonomy and under broad guidance of a manager. They identify and drive innovation, support staff to innovate and manage, and lead change.

Key duties may include, but are not limited to:
EL1 Reporting and Risk Manager
- develop, maintain or implement risk policies, plans, frameworks and guidelines
- provide expert advice, support and training in relation to analysis, assessment, management and monitoring of risk, and associated strategies and programs
- undertake risk management and assessment activities within an allocated context e.g. strategic, operational and/or program/project
- identify and report on control effectiveness in relation to agency risks
- establish and monitor key risk indicators and identify, and potentially facilitate, corrective action to mitigate risks
- use risk and mitigation data from core business systems to enhance insight into business activity
- develop and implement risk management approach and processes to methodologies, projects or programs
- make decisions using professional judgement while maintaining an understanding of the agency’s environment
- prepare and review written material including plans, reports, executive briefs and corporate documentation
- build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes, facilitate cooperation, and generate trust and recognition of the team in the wider work environment
- represent the team at workshops, meetings, committees, seminars and conferences
- lead and manage the team including performance, attendance, wellbeing, coaching, mentoring, and capability development
- lead and support the operations of the team including monitoring business performance, setting priorities, and managing resources and workflow
- lead and manage change across the team, taking responsibility for implementing continuous improvement processes
EL2 Reporting and Risk Manager
- manage and ensure the integrity of risk management and assessment activities for their area of responsibility
- deliver specialist strategic advice to senior executives in relation to agency and operational risks to influence strategic direction
- ensure the currency and accuracy of risk policies, frameworks and guidelines
- ensure a comprehensive, integrated and efficient approach to managing risk is applied diligently across the agency and/or within the relevant program or project
- drive the implementation and regular review of agency risk analysis assessment
- ensure that briefs, reports and other documents for senior executives are timely and quality
- promote the agency’s objectives and communicate the strategic direction and vision of the agency
- make balanced decisions using professional judgement while maintaining an understanding of the agency’s environment
- represent, negotiate maintain professional relationships with senior stakeholders to drive outcomes, facilitate cooperation, and generate trust and recognition of the team in the wider work environment
- oversee the operations of a team, including managing business performance, establishing priorities and managing resources and workflow
- lead and promote change and continuous improvement processes in the workplace

EL2 Reporting and Risk Manager
